It was an exciting time to be in the District. There was the signing of the health care legislation,
demonstrations on immigration reform and various other issues, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu staying at our hotel
In our 6 days in DC, we managed to see many of the highlights. We began with an all-day hop-on-off tour. We had a guided
visit to the Capitol and spent time in the Senate and House chambers. We took an after-dark tour, visited Arlington National
Cemetery and Mt. Vernon, took in theatre productions, viewed the White House day and night. In between, we sprinkled in some
visits to Smithsonian museums and the various monuments. Some of us chose to go to the botanical gardens, Newseum, Old Post
Office, National Zoo and National Cathedral. We sampled various cuisines while enjoying the Washington ambience at the different
eateries. Although we were a little ahead of the Cherry Blossom Festival, towards the end of the trip we saw buds opening
throughout town. All in all, we had an exciting and grand time visiting our Nation's Capitol.
